What are LEDs?
LEDs are light-emitting diodes. These are electronic components that convert electrical energy directly to light through the movement of electrons within the material of the diode. LEDs are important because due to their efficiency and low energy, they are beginning to replace most conventional light sources.
What is CRI?
CRI is Color Rendering Index. It is a measurement of the quality of light. Where as lumens is a measurement of the quantity of light, CRI is the measurement of quality. It is a scale between 0 and 100. 0 is bad, 100 is great. LED’s typically are in the 70-95 range. The higher the CRI, the more expensive the LED chip, and therefore the more expensive the product itself.
What color is best for indoor/outdoor use?
The most popular color for indoor LED light is warm white
The most popular color for outdoor LED light is cool white
What are the benefits of replacing your ordinary bulbs with LED?
There are lots of benefits. Here is a list of a few.
a. An immediate reduction in your electricity bill.
b. Better heat dissipation. LED fixtures are extremely efficient in converting electricity into light.
c. LED Bulbs last a very long time, typically 50,000 to 100,000 hours.
d. They are virtually indestructible.
e. They do not contain mercury or other hazardous materials
f. Eco-friendly – with no hazardous parts, you can easily reclaim most of the parts in an environmentally safe way.
Aren’t LED’s Expensive?
With increasing demand and streamlined manufacturing processes, costs have plummeted.
Most importantly, LED bulbs to consume one-sixth of the energy of incandescents and last up to 25 times longer.
LED BULBS
Can LED bulbs be used with dimmer controls?
Yes and No. Not all LED bulbs are dimmable, for those dimmable LED bulbs, you should apply with the right type of dimmer. Most dimmers are specifically designed for LED bulbs of a certain type.
Please note: If you use dimmer with non-dimmable LED bulbs, it will ultimately cause damage to the bulb.
Will the brightness decrease over the life of the bulb?
Yes. It’s called Lumen Degradation. The brightness will fade as the bulb gets near the end of its life, which is gradual and barely noticeable.
Pros and Cons of LED bulbs
Light-emitting diodes, known as LEDs, have achieved great progress in accessibility, cost reduction, and variety, earning a dominant spot in today’s lighting market.
Pros:
Energy-efficient & Long-lasting: The typical LED bulb has a lifespan of about 10,000 to 50.000 hours of use.
Affordable & Lower heat output: Unlike conventional incandescent lights waste about 90% of their power on heat output, LED bulbs barely emit heat, which reduces the potential risk of fire hazard.
Excellence in directional light:
Eco-friendly: They reduces the emission of CO2 and normally don’t contain any toxic materials, like the mercury vapor in CFL.
Cons:
First, they’re not always dimmer compatible. This is due to an incompatibility between the light bulb, fixture, and dimmer switch.
LED bulbs experience Lumen depreciation that the brightness of the bulb will fade over time.
LED bulbs emit more blue light than incandescent bulbs, which are more on the red end of the spectrum. Blue light can disrupt your circadian rhythm, negatively affect your sleep quality.
RGBW BULBS
What does RGB LED mean?
RGB LED means red, blue, and green LEDs. RGB LED products combine these three colors to produce over 16 million hues of light. Note that not all colors are possible. Some colors are “outside” the triangle formed by the RGB LEDs. Also, pigment colors such as brown or pink are difficult, or impossible, to achieve.
Can I control multiple LEDYA RGBW LED Bulbs with only one remote?
If you purchased multiple RGBW Bulbs of the same model, you can use the same remote to control them at a time.
Due to the directional characteristics of the IR receiver, you cannot use the same remote control to set all the RGBW Bulbs to the same mode.
Why are my lights unresponsive to my remote?
1) Do is not put the bulb in a shielded container, or its sensor may be affected.
2) Please pull out the insulation sheet from the remote.
3) Please note that the remote should be faced with the bulb in the same room.
4) Please check if the remote battery is well installed.
5) Need more help, please feel free to contact us via support@ledyalighting.com
DECORATIVE LIGHTS
Why is my remote not working/controlling the strip lights?
1. Make sure the plastic label is pulled out when you use the remote.
2. The remote should point at the black IR receiver on the control box.
3. Please try to replace the CR2025 battery inside the remote. If more help is required, please contact us via support@bighouseled.com.
Can the strip lights be used outdoors?
We have waterproof and non-waterproof LED strip lights. However, the power adapter are not waterproof.
Please refer to the product specs or selling page to determine if your lights are resistant to water. It is recommended to use waterproof strip lights under eaves.
Can I control multiple BIGHOUSE string lights with only one remote?
If you purchased multiple string lights of the same model, you can use the same remote to control them at a time.
Due to the directional characteristics of the IR receiver, you cannot use the same remote control to set all the light strings to the same mode.
INDOOR LIGHTING
STRIP LIGHTS
How do I install the strip lights around corners? Can I bend the strip lights?
If you don’t want to cut or use a pin connector in corners, you can bend the strip lights, as demonstrated in the picture below. Avoid folding the strip lights on the bulbs as it may cause overheating or damage the product’s lifespan.
Will the Govee strip light damage my painted wall if I rip them off ?
The strip light adhesive will tear off if you reposition the strip lights.
The adhesive may damage the paint on your wall during removal. It is recommended that your peel the strip lights off slowly and carefully to prevent damage.
Can I cut the strip lights to any length I want?
RGB strip lights can be trimmed along the indicated golden marks. Please note that the trimmed strip sections won’t turn on without an electrical power supply. We suggest using pin connectors to link the trimmed sections to the original strip. (pin connectors not included).
Can I extend my LEDYA strip lights / connect two or more LEDYA strip lights in series?
It’s not recommended to connect extra strip lights because of the power issue. The voltage drop may cause the strip light to show different colors or the last part of the strip light will be off if they are connected continuously.
It’s advised to plug other light strips into different plugs to use.
